Medicare Advantage Plans are offered by private insurance companies and it replaces original Medicare Parts A and B (most of the time also provides Part D).
By law, such plans must include everything that original Medicare covers. Some plans also provide other benefits such as dental and vision. You will receive an insurance card that will replace your Medicare card.
Some Medicare Advantage plans are available with no monthly premium.
Medicare supplement insurance (commonly known as a Medigap policy) is offered by private insurance companies and helps pay some of the costs that original Medicare (Parts A and B) doesn’t cover, such as deductibles, co-payments, and co-insurance. Since original Medicare only pays for 80% of covered costs, there is no maximum out of pocket limit that you may have to pay. That is why many clients purchase a Medicare supplement policy and transfer that financial risk to an insurance company.
Medicare offers prescription drug coverage to everyone with Medicare by joining a plan run by an insurance company that is approved by Medicare. If you do not enroll in a plan when you are first eligible, you may pay a late enrollment penalty. Premiums, deductibles, pharmacies, and covered drugs can vary by plan, so it is important to shop your needs to find a good fit. Medicare Part D Plans may change annually so let us compare what you have to other plans in Albuquerque or your local area.
